The Prophet
Kahlil Gibran
And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said, Speak to us of Children,
And He said:
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that the arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.

Jolene’s Perfectly Imperfect Dad
Jolene was my Perfectly Imperfect Daughter and I was Jolene’s Perfectly Imperfect Dad. We came to realize that being Perfect just doesn’t exist. Being Imperfect is really a PART OF Life. Do the best you can and then take time to EXHALE. Life is tough enough without others looking over your shoulder.
Try using some of these words and phrases during your life journey:
Great, Terrific, Beautiful, Spectacular, You are unique, You make me laugh, You bring tears of joy to my eyes, Without you, I would be lost, You are loved, and You light up my life, Thanks for being a part of my life and the person you are.
And the next time you hear another person saying perfect just smile, it will pass just like the day and the seasons.
Thoughts Are Things
Ernest Holmes and Willis Kinnear
Living is a very personal matter. Nobody can do it for you. Others can offer much advice and endless suggestions as to what you should do and how to do it. Then there are the constant suggestions you make to yourself out of your past successes and failures. However, in the last analysis whatever you have come to know resolves itself into your own mental concepts, colored and enhanced by your own emotional and physical nature.
You are you. What you are and what you are to become is the result of an inner motivation that you alone have established. Unknowingly you have perhaps been directing yourself in a direction other than that in which you desired to go.
As you come to understand the way your mind is creative, new vistas of living will open up for you. That greater experience and appreciation of life can only be yours by first establishing an inner awareness that it is yours.
